RESUMO

The development of financial technology has promoted the innovation and digital transformation of commercial banks. Through digital transformation, commercial banks can improve bank efficiency and operational capabilities. Through empirical analysis, this study explored the relationship between digital bank transformation and commercial bank operating capabilities and how COVID-19, bank categories, and enterprise life cycles affect the relationship between digital bank transformation and commercial bank operating capabilities. This study selected data from China's commercial banks from 2011 to 2021 and used the regression method of fixed effects to conduct an empirical analysis. The research results show that the digital transformation of banks has improved the operational capabilities of commercial banks. Further analysis showed that the emergence of COVID-19 has negatively affected their relationship. At the same time, compared with rural commercial banks and commercial banks in the recession and phase-out periods, non-rural commercial banks and commercial banks in the growth and maturity stages play a more vital moderating role in the impact of the digital transformation of banks on the financial performance of commercial banks. The main research object of this study is Chinese commercial banks, and this study examines the results of banks' digital transformation and enriches the research on digital transformation. At the same time, this study is helpful to investors who like investment banks and has good practical significance.

RESUMO

Inclusive digital financial services should welcome older populations and make them beneficiaries of the digital and financial revolution. To understand older adults' experience of using digital financial tools, we conducted an online survey of 268 older internet users aged 60 or above from urban areas of 14 Chinese provinces after China's nationwide COVID-19 lockdown in 2021. Our results revealed that older internet surfers were active in digital financial activities and engaged most with activities that were highly compatible with their lifestyles. Active users significantly differed from inactive users in sociodemographics, confirming that a digital divide related to social stratification exists among older internet users. Digital finance active users were also distinguished from inactive users' attitudes and perceptions toward digital finance. Logistic regression results indicated that perceived usefulness, access to proper devices for digital finance, risk perceptions, and perceived exclusion if not using technology were associated with their adoption of these advanced tools. Older adults reported the perceived inconvenience of in-person financial services during the lockdown. They also expressed a willingness to participate in relevant training if provided. The findings of this study could help aging-related practitioners to understand older adults' engagement in digital finance and guide policy and project design in the area of financial inclusion of the aging population.

RESUMO

While technology factors are the main driver of the booming real estate APP platforms with important implications for user behavior pattern during and post-pandemic contexts, there is a lack of adequate research. In response, this study explores the user behavior pattern of real estate APP platforms to promote user mental health by taking the real estate APP platforms users as the participants based on theory of technology readiness and acceptance model. Data collected from offline surveys are analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results reveal the technology readiness index positively affects individuals' perceived usefulness and satisfaction, ultimately positively affects individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms;satisfaction with real estate APP platforms mediated the relationship between technology readiness index, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and individuals' continuance intention with real estate APP platforms. However, the group comparison finds no significant difference in user behavior patterns by gender. The contribution of this study is to reveal the influence mechanisms of digital technology on users' behavioral patterns toward real estate APP platforms, which can help guide the sustainable development of real estate APP platforms and promote user mental health and wellbeing in the post-COVID era.

The tremendous growth of tourism in Albania in recent decades, made important the understanding of the role that digital marketing and mobile technology is playing in this field. Tourism in Albania is one of the most important economic sectors of the country, and is growing year after year. It is emphasized that digitalization is a new form of communication between producers and consumers of tourism services, becoming a source of competitive advantages for tourism organizations. The main goal of the study is to give us a clear overview of the use of the Internet, information technologies and digital marketing in Albania. For the realization of this study, we used a methodology that combines primary data with secondary ones. The research was conducted through questionnaires that were sent to Albanian travel agencies via email. The questionnaire contains 17 questions, and was sent to 150 travel agencies, of which 102 agencies responded. Regarding the study, digital marketing plays an important role in improving the image of Albanian tourism throughout the world. It has created facilities in the way of doing marketing and reducing the costs of businesses. Through digital marketing, travel agencies have managed to promote our country online, personalize services and, above all, be closer to customers. The research found that the most effective digital marketing tools used by the agencies are Instagram and Facebook.

RESUMO

"The ongoing journey to standardization on more aspects of submission and data exchange will continue to have an impact," he notes. lan Crone, business unit director Europe-fme Life Sciences, which provides business and technology services, points out that the web-based human variations electronic application form (eAF) for centrally authorized products (CAPs) has been available for use since 4 Nov. 2022 on the European Medicines Agency's (EMA's) new product lifecycle management (PLM) portal. Renato Rjavec, Amplexor Life Sciences "Many biopharmaceutical functions have spent the last decade modernizing their base technologies, most often in a cloud/software as a service environment platform that brings foundational benefit to individual functions," states Steve Gens managing partner. Internal productivity and external regulatory requirements are both driving this data connectivity within industry, he adds, which "requires a clear cross functional digitization strategy and focus on cross-functional data governance, master data management, and ensuring all data from these various authoritative systems [are] at the same high level. " "Many biopharmaceutical functions have spent the last decade modernizing their base technologies, most often in a cloud/ software as a service environment platform that brings foundational benefit to individual functions." -

RESUMO

According to research, for example, the bio/pharmaceutical manufacturing market should witness compound annual growth in the region of 11% between 2022 and 2027 (2), thanks in part to advancing manufacturing technologies. "Most recently, biopharmaceutical manufacturing has been impacted by pressures on supply chain," specifies Antonio Crincoli, vice president of Engineering, Pharma and Consumer Health, Catalent. [...]there is a focus on quality management systems that ensure data integrity and governance, and that digitization occurs with appropriate validation, also, where necessary, that there is segregation of operating systems to eliminate risk of corruption." Antonio Crincoli, Catalent "PAT and an emphasis on process understanding have been embraced by the majority of pharmaceutical manufacturers, and there are several case studies where both artificial intelligence (Al) and machine learning (ML) have led to improved quality or increased yield, even in good manufacturing practice (GMP) facilities," adds Byrd.

RESUMO

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted how vital cold chain is for the pharmaceutical industry, particularly as some vaccines needed to be produced, transported, and stored at -70 °C. Market projections for cold chain logistics of pharmaceuticals are projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.03% by 2025, which is reported to be driven by greater global demand for pharmaceuticals, increasing initiatives to promote cold chain, and more demand for reefer containers from the pharma industry (1). Gilmore (Tower Cold Chain): Putting the European success of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout to one side, the demand for effective temperature-controlled packaging solutions in the pharmaceutical supply chain has increased significantly in recent years. Today, the cold chain is grappling with additional challenges: serving a global market, driving out costs and waste, addressing capacity and resource constraints, and dealing with continually mounting regulations-all whilst handling valuable pharmaceutical cargo. Cold chain logistics providers must invest in the latest on-board equipment built into containers to track temperature and location, and to make data available to partners and customers in real time, to prevent or mitigate loss.

RESUMO

[...]we've seen more companies diversifying their portfolios and investing in therapies for rare diseases so that advanced therapies, and in particular, gene therapies-which were deemed experimental and risky when I was involved with the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Advanced Therapies some 10-12 years ago-take centre stage," Schneider continues. The year's expectations were unsurprisingly centred around COVID-19 for Martin Lush, global vice president. "Many big pharma companies will continue down the path of externalising services for small molecules and/or known molecules maintenance, to keep their focus on novel molecules," she explains. [...]of this complexity, there can be much negotiation and, hence, delay in access to medicines, he explains.

RESUMO

According to Jens Kürten, group senior director, Communication and Marketing, Gerresheimer, there are nine megatrends that will both characterize and influence the pharmaceutical packaging market. Whether the drug be injected intravenously or subcutaneously, at home or in a hospital setting, there are various needs that should be considered prior to choosing the 'best-fit' packaging, he adds. [...]packaging requirements for pharmaceuticals change over time as the lifecycle of the drug continues," Stöcker states. [...]customers request more eco-friendly options to reduce or avoid plastic. [...]it has been necessary to design the packaging for the vaccines with these specific requirements in mind to ensure the safety and efficacy of the therapeutic product are protected.

RESUMO

The COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020 has forced Indonesians to practice physical distancing and carry out their personal and professional activities from home. However, not everyone is ready to conduct their regular activities remotely. The issue is the readiness for digital technology. The research aims to analyze the Indonesian people's readiness for digital technology during the pandemic. The research also investigates the impact of optimism and technology adoption on behavioral intention mediated by perceived ease of use. The research applies a quantitative study using an online questionnaire. The population of the research is people who use Internet technology for online learning, working from home, online shopping, and social activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research successfully gathered 327 respondents using purposive sampling. The research uses Structural Equation Model (SEM) method via SPSS AMOS software to analyze the data and generate findings. There are several findings. First, optimism has a positive relationship with perceived ease of use. Second, technology adoption relates with perceived ease of use positively. Third, perceived ease of use has a positive relationship with behavioral intention. Last, the empirical evidence for the mediation roles of perceived ease of use is inconclusive. The research also offers some managerial implications. © 2023 Sharif University of Technology. All rights reserved.

RESUMO

In 2021 the OECD launched the Global Minimum Company Tax to implement the Action 1 of the BEPS Project. This instrument has seen as a good mechanism to prevent company avoiding taxes at the global level and to stop existence of the harmful tax regimes worldwide, as well as a good mechanism to achieve fair taxation in the era of global digitalization. However, the broke-out of the COVID-19 pandemic and, consequently, the close of the national borders, then armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine, boost financial crisis and the crises in almost all social and industrial spheres at the global level. Such unwilling trend, between all, has influenced behavior of the companies and the initial optimism of the OECD and other international organizations that the global minimum company tax, at the very end, would end existence of the harmful tax regimes, tax avoidance and unfair taxation, dropped significantly. Therefore, at the very end of the 2022 and the beginning of the 2023, the OECD launched consultation document on tax certainty in the application of the Pillar Two of the global minimum tax known as a GloBE (Global Anti-Base Erosion) Model Rules. This paper deals with mentioned issue and actual problems that the application of the GLoBE rules is faced with.

RESUMO

Digital nomads live a new way of life that creates an ideal balance of work and leisure. Research on the phenomenon of digital nomads is still in its early stages and is not fully framed as a proper research category. Therefore, the present research aims to explore research on digital nomadism by study leading countries, authors and themes that can become a foundation for future research. This study is exploratory and interpretive - using bibliometrics, we systematically searched all articles indexed in the Web of Science database. The study presents the evolution of scholarly production, and identifies key authors and countries that have the potential to become pioneers in digital nomad research. We identified 17 core concepts of digital nomad research as well as concepts that have not yet received much attention from scientists. Additionally, our study provides a framework for research on digital nomadism and presents topics for future research: we determine how the 17 core concepts identified in this study affect the lives of digital nomads, research into legislation that directly affects digital nomads, study how COVID-19 has changed working styles, and offer a bibliometric analysis of data on digital nomads from other databases.

RESUMO

This paper investigates the impact of external shocks on the spread of digital technologies. Using the example of the COVID-19 pandemic, we identify and describe four patterns that reflect the uneven response of different digital technologies to external conditions undergoing transformation. The patterns differ in both the magnitude of the pandemic's impact and the timing of the resulting effects. Video conferencing, business continuity and telemedicine services showed a dramatic increase in demand at the beginning of COVID-19 and a gradual decline in the later stages. A more moderate response in the early weeks of the pandemic is typical of e-commerce and online entertainment. Delayed effects are seen in digital logistics services and digital currencies, which reacted much later than other technologies. Finally, a slow decline in significance after the pandemic began has been observed for biometrics and cybersecurity technologies. Similar patterns may describe the transformation of the spread of digital technologies not only under the influence of COVID-19, but also in the face of dramatic economic and social changes of other origins. © 2023 The Author(s).

RESUMO

Aims: A proof-of- concept pilot investigating the profile of person who engaged with remote testing for their annual diabetes review, and service user (SU) and primary care practice acceptability for completing annual diabetes review tests remotely (blood pressure, finger-stick blood test and urine test). Method(s): A mixed methods evaluation based on SU surveys sent to all 144 pilot participants, semi-structured SU and staff interviews, and demographic and clinical data extraction from primary care electronic patient record system. Result(s): Profile: The pathway was considered suitable for people who were working, digitally capable, younger, had household support to complete the tests, had non-complex diabetes, or a combination of these attributes. It was deemed less suitable for the very elderly, the less digitally capable, those with complex health needs or socially isolated. SU Acceptability: Interviewees and survey respondents overall deemed the remote tests acceptable for use. Convenience and reduced exposure to Covid-19 were motivating factors for participation. Preference for face-to- face care or concerns around using digital technologies were key reasons for decline. Staff Acceptability: The pathway was deemed acceptable and was successfully implemented at both practices. Support from a designated pathway co-ordinator and project manager were key factors linked to acceptability and success. The remote pathway was seen as an opportunity to reduce primary care pressures on in-person care. Conclusion(s): It is possible to successfully conduct annual diabetes reviews remotely. Although not appropriate nor desirable to everyone, remote testing provides a viable alternative to in-person testing for certain individuals.

RESUMO

PurposeDigital transformation in supply chains (SCs) has emerged as one of the most effective ways to minimize SC disruption risks. Given the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global SCs, this study aims to identify and provide empirical evidence about the drivers of digital SC transformation, considering the interactivity between environmental dynamism, technology, and organizational capabilities during the pandemic era.Design/methodology/approachUsing partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), this study examines 923 firms in Vietnam to ascertain the drivers of digital SC transformation between small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large enterprises, based on the technology–organization–environment (TOE) as an overarching framework.FindingsThis study finds that greater digital SC transformation adoption could be achieved under the interactivity between the TOE components of firms' technological competencies, learning capabilities, and disruptions in socioeconomic environments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, a multigroup analysis shows that the drivers of digital SC transformation differ between SMEs and large enterprises. SMEs were found to be more motivated by the COVID-19 disruption risk when adopting digital SC models.Originality/valueThis study represents an original and novel contribution from Vietnam as an emerging market to the literature on the impact of COVID-19 on the global value chain. Apart from the unique dataset at the firm level, the analysis of interactions between external and internal drivers of digital SC transformation could provide crucial managerial implications for SMEs to survive major disruptions, such as those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

RESUMO

Digital transformation, which significantly impacts our personal, social, and economic spheres of life, is regarded by many as the most significant development of recent decades. In an industrial context, based on a systematic literature review of 262 papers selected from the ProQuest database, using the methodology of David and Han, this paper discusses Industry 4.0 technologies as the key drivers and/or enablers of digital transformation for business practices, models, processes, and routines in the current digital age. After carrying out a systematic literature review considering key Industry 4.0 technologies, we discuss the individual and collective ways in which competitiveness in contemporary organizations and institutions is enhanced. Specifically, we discuss how these technologies contribute as antecedents, drivers, and enablers of environmental and social sustainability, corporate growth and diversification, reshoring, mass customization, B2B cooperation, supply chain integration, Lean Six Sigma, quality of governance, innovations, and knowledge related to dealing with challenges arising from global pandemics such as COVID-19. A few challenges related to the effective adoption and implementation of Industry 4.0 are also highlighted, along with some suggestions to overcome them.
